«Public Solitude»
2017-2021
In this series I capture the instant when the city stops assigning roles and a person is left alone with themself. My aim is not merely to take a shot but to isolate the demasking moment—that brief slice of time in which the social shell opens and an unprotected «I» surfaces. Solitude in public space is treated here not as a pathology, but as a tool for detecting one’s own authenticity, freed from everyday scripts.

I relish working in the urban environment; it feels like an optical laboratory. Shop-windows and reflections, shadow and light act as filters through which I observe—and which, at the same time, conceal me. I maintain deliberate distance: the camera is my way of remaining a witness and, paradoxically, a participant. By catching moments of public solitude I invite viewers not simply to examine the protagonists, but to recognise in them their own sensations of presence and freedom.

The series unfolds in four thematic chapters:

  • Strangers
  • Person and Crowd
  • Urban Geometry
  • Person and Art
