«Rituals of the Everyday»
2019-2021
The project «Rituals of the Everyday» explores the window as a threshold where daily life ceases to be self-evident. Working at night, I photographed domestic scenes through apartment windows, turning an ordinary architectural element into a symbolic portal between outside and inside, public and private. I was catching ordinary gestures—someone sipping tea, reading a book—and in the nocturnal quiet these actions acquired the gravity of ritual, revealing the latent drama of the everyday.

To convey the atmosphere of shooting, the photographs are presented in light-boxes that cast a soft glow, while a soundscape of muffled city noises underscores the delicate boundary between permissible observation and intrusion. How do our notions of the private and the public shift under such a gaze? The work foregrounds the sacralisation of the quotidian and the vulnerability of personal boundaries in an era of increasingly fragile privacy.
